Samsung rolls out Gear S3 smartwatch with debut in South Korea

Today, Samsung announced that it’s commenced sales of its long-awaited Gear S3 smartwatch in South Korea. The device, which is available in two variants — the minimalist Classic and the rugged Frontier — will remain exclusive to the region for a week, before making its way to several other markets.

Starting Friday, November 18, residents in Australia, Dubai, France, Germany, Singapore, the UK and US will be able to purchase the firm’s latest Tizen-powered smartwatch from various brick-and-mortar retail stores. Customers who pre-ordered a unit are expected to take delivery on the same day.

For those in need of a refresher, both the Gear S3 Classic and Gear S3 Frontier pack a 1.3-inch Super AMOLED display, 4GB of internal storage, integrated GPS and MST technology for Samsung Pay. However, the latter also supports LTE connectivity, enabling users to place calls from their wrist when their smartphone isn’t nearby.
